Driven Clay Shoot in aid of Canine Partners

A driven clay shoot that took place last weekend in aid of Canine Partners (Registered No. 803680), a charity specialising in providing highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities, raised £15,000.  The event was held at Holywell near Swanmore in Hampshire, by kind permission of the Earl of Clarendon and Dowager Countess of Clarendon on Saturday 12th September.

Twenty five teams of 4 guns competed for the Canine Partners Charity Shield. The course consisted of 5 drives including High Pheasant, Driven Partridge and Fur & Feather set up by the Better Shooting Company. This was followed by a Pimms reception and lunch by Green’s of St. James’s, with wine sponsored by Neil Ellis of South Africa.

The day was won by The Hampshire Sporting Club team consisting of Alan Collett - team leader, Gavin Thomas, Peter Waldron and Carole Hawkins.  They were closely followed by last year’s winners from Holywell, headed up by the Earl of Clarendon.  The winning prize was presented by the Canine Partners patron, HRH Duke of Gloucester, who took part in the shoot.

Terry Knott, Canine Partners Chief Executive says: The Holywell Clay Shoot was, as usual, a great day out and put the “fun” in fundraising. We had a record turnout of Guns and Guests, with generous donations and auction prizes. Canine Partners is indebted to our existing and new supporters - the monies raised will go towards training more puppies to help people with disabilities, thus helping to transform their lives.”

Next year’s shoot will be held on Saturday 11th September 2010.  For further information on Canine Partners, please visit www.caninepartners.co.uk or call 08456 580 480.
