Mayor of Eastbourne Attends Canine Partners Information Day

Thursday 8th October 2009, West Sussex: The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne yesterday attended an Information Session at Canine Partners (Registered Charity No. 803680), a charity that provides highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities.

Councillor Greg Szanto had the opportunity to see these amazing dogs in action, demonstrating how they can change the lives of people with disabilities.  Not only can a Canine Partner help with everyday tasks such as picking up dropped items, opening doors and shopping, it also offers companionship, independence and so much more.

The Mayor also met a number of people who have a Canine Partner, including Claire Graham and Ulli from Eastbourne.  “Ulli has taken me from obscurity to infinity and beyond in 4 years.  I am now even a Trustee of Canine Partners, something I would never have had the confidence to do before. “

Commenting on his visit to Canine Partners, The Worshipful the Mayor of Eastbourne comments, “Meeting Claire and Ulli when they were promoting Canine Partners in Eastbourne recently made a lasting impression on me, and I am grateful for their invitation to make this personal visit. I chose our local MS Society as the Mayor's Charity this year and I am well aware of how much these dogs can change the lives of people with disabilities.”
