Essex Puppy Training Satellite

The Essex satellite started in 2008. Training classes take place at Writtle College in Chelmsford, who generously donate their facilities free of charge. Being based at an agricultural college means that we have plenty of opportunity to socialise the puppies with other animals, including the large selection of horses that we share a campus with.

We also regularly go out and about with our puppies to provide them with experiences of lots of different environment. This includes retail parks, supermarkets, and for some reason lots of coffee shops!

We also have to get the pups used to travelling on public transport so we also go on regular visits to Stansted Airport, train stations and bus stations. Last year Firstbus Essex even gave us our own bus for the day to help with the puppies training.

As for me, I have been training companion dogs for nearly 8 years and have also studied British Sign Language which has proved very useful in helping Deaf dog owners to train their dogs.  I am currently owned by a Jack Russell Terrier that I train and compete with in obedience and agility.

CEO's Blog

This is more of a holding blog, rather than a real one

01 May

This is more of a holding blog today, rather than a real one. There’s just been so much good stuff going on within the Canine Partners family recently that I simply don’t have time to do it justice before disappearing off for two weeks. Things like our season of Big Bluebell Walks having kicked off. Things like our having appointed a teacher to beef up our involvement with schools, colleges and universities, and the fact that we are looking for education ambassadors to help us take this forward across the country. Read more

Canine Partners’ Leicestershire Training Centre

Canine Partners needs to raise £3.1million to build a second Training Centre in order to train more dogs and change more lives.

We have purchased a site in a village called Osgathorpe, halfway between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Loughborough, which has a range of barns, outbuildings and associated land. The plan is to replace the barns and adapt some of the outbuildings to create the specialised buildings we need.

Having a Midlands Training Centre will not only increase our output, it will also make the charity far more accessible for those on our waiting list who are unable to make the long journey to our centre in West Sussex. 42% of the applications we received last year were from people living in the mid and northern regions of the UK. Many of our existing partnerships will also benefit from being able to receive support from the new centre.

The site will consist of a training centre and office facilities, fully accessible accommodation and kennelling.

This is an extremely exciting time for Canine Partners and we would be delighted to receive your support.

For more information about this project, please contact Cat Harvey on 01730 716018 or email catharvey@caninepartners.org.uk

Jobs available at the new centre will be advertised on our Vacancies page here: Work for us
