You Are Here : Arundel bluebell walk raises £1000 for Canine Partners

Over 85 walkers attended along with two local people with disabilities and their canine partners.
The walk took place through the Angmering Park Estate on a bright sunny afternoon. Walkers were able to choose from routes of 1 mile, 2 miles and 4 miles all taking them through beautiful bluebells. Refreshments were provided by Libby Field and a raffle was organized by Rotary Club of Chichester Harbour.
Walk organiser Hilary Knight comments, “We had a wonderful afternoon and were pleased to be joined so many people from the local community. We are delighted to have raised £1000 and my thanks go to all who attended or helped on the day. I know Canine Partners will put this money to good use in helping people with disabilities lead more independent lives.”
One of the partnerships that attended were Moira Luck from Worthing with her canine partner Nugget. She says of the difference Nugget has made to her: ”Nugget is very good at all his tasks, especially retrieving dropped items including my mobile phone which means my family no longer worry about me going out on my own. He is also excellent at opening and closing doors and cupboards. He helps me put my coat on, pulling the sleeve round so I can get my right arm in first, then going round to the other side for the left sleeve. He has taught himself to go to the back of the chair and pull it up at the back around my shoulders. He has brought me freedom, and peace of mind for my family.”
