Petersfield woman raises money for Canine Partners in Weymouth Swim

Charlotte Green (25) from Petersfield had donated £211.22 to Canine Partners, a charity specialising in providing highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities.  The money was raised through sponsorship when Charlotte took part in the Weymouth Harbour Swim on Christmas Day.

Charlotte, who is a Science Teacher at The Petersfield School, had the idea to do the swim whilst awake during the night and thinking about doing something different for charity.  On the actual day, swimmers crossing the harbour were faced with a water temperature of 5 degrees and ice on the pontoons.

“I have seen canine partners in action and am hugely impressed with what the dogs can do and the impact they have on the lives of people with disabilities.  Doing the Weymouth swim on their behalf seemed a natural option.  It was great fun, if a little cold, and lots of people turned out on Christmas Day to see us mad folk taking the plunge. A special thanks go to fellow staff at The Petersfield School plus friends and family in Weymouth for supporting my efforts.”
