WANTED! Loving Puppy Parents to become part of our team

We have thirteen Puppy Training Satellites nationwide and puppies (7 - 8 weeks and older) ready and waiting to be loved and socialised for anything between 2 -12 months.  Reasonable travel expenses will be covered, puppy food, toys, equipment, all veterinary costs and training is provided. If you are keen to have one of our puppies share your life and family, please give us a call today!

You provide the love, and the puppy provides the fun and games!

In class and at home, you will learn what it takes for this bundle of mischief to turn into a fully trained and qualified Canine Partners Assistance Dog.

This is a very rewarding role and we all know how hard it may seem to give your puppy up, but seeing them progress, graduate and help people with disabilities is so worthwhile. Many Volunteer Puppy Parents are very proud to have now helped train several Canine Partners! They also get the opportunity to stay in touch with all the people involved including the Partnerships through our unique Partnership Days (like a graduation ceremony)!! Read some Volunteer Puppy Parents' stories in our Newsletters.

Can you…

Be at home most of the day?
Have suitable transport to get the puppy around?
Attend weekly puppy classes?
Follow Canine Partners’ training methods?
Wave the puppy goodbye when your good work is finished?
Enjoy the fun of classes and outings?

Do you…

Have a secure, dog-friendly garden?
Have the stamina to manage an active puppy?

Talk to us about being a Puppy Parent, or short-term Foster Home. Even if you can only foster a puppy occasionally or for short periods, we would like to hear from you, please contact the Puppy Department at the West Sussex Training Centre and we can put you in touch with a Puppy Training Satellite (nationwide map) near you.

If you are keen to become a Volunteer Puppy Parent and you would like to visit our puppy classes to learn more: please fill in this Puppy Training Department Form.

We appreciate all your support and if you would like information on other local Canine Partners' volunteer opportunities, please contact us.

A day trip to the Isle of Wight and Folly goes to Crufts

03 Mar

It doesn’t get better than the Isle of Wight does it? All that sunshine and the smell of salty brine and fish as the ferry gently chugs across the inviting blue sea, its flag rustling in the warm breeze. And that’s pretty much what it was like on Wednesday when I visited our army of volunteer puppy parents as they met for their weekly puppy class in Godshill Scout Hall. All of the above applied, plus a choc chip cookie on the voyage over, just to put the icing on the cake. The only fly in the ointment was the early start in order to check in at 7.30am at Portsmouth Harbour, but that’s ok. We ‘sea dogs’ like early starts, after all.   Read more

Canine Partners’ Leicestershire Training Centre

Canine Partners needs to raise £3.1million to build a second Training Centre in order to train more dogs and change more lives.

We have purchased a site in a village called Osgathorpe, halfway between Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Loughborough, which has a range of barns, outbuildings and associated land. The plan is to replace the barns and adapt some of the outbuildings to create the specialised buildings we need.

Having a Midlands Training Centre will not only increase our output, it will also make the charity far more accessible for those on our waiting list who are unable to make the long journey to our centre in West Sussex. 42% of the applications we received last year were from people living in the mid and northern regions of the UK. Many of our existing partnerships will also benefit from being able to receive support from the new centre.

The site will consist of a training centre and office facilities, fully accessible accommodation and kennelling.

This is an extremely exciting time for Canine Partners and we would be delighted to receive your support.

For more information about this project, please contact Cat Harvey on 01730 716018 or email catharvey@caninepartners.org.uk

Jobs available at the new centre will be advertised on our Vacancies page here: Work for us
