In 2011 we received £1,952,234 (2010: £1,794,270) in gifts through the generosity of our community, companies, charitable trusts and the hard work of our support groups. Of this amount £1,934,059 was raised as general funds, leaving £18,175 restricted in accordance with the donor’s wishes.
A further £164,961 (2010: £299,761) was raised through activities for generating funds including fundraising events and sale of charitable merchandise.
Interest on deposited funds brought in £13,480 (2010: £2,110)
The costs of raising voluntary income amounted to £433,047 (2010: £343,943), the costs of activities for generating funds were £101,333 (2010: £105,431). This investment in raising funds in 2011 ensures that we can afford to achieve our ambitious operational expansion plans in 2012, training considerably more dogs for people with disabilities.
Every pound given to fund the working of the charity has been spent in 2011 as:
Cost of generating funds 23%, Charitable activities 75% and Governance costs 2%.
